Baby, It's Cold Outside
{Laundry by Shelli Segal coat, Express sweater and leggings, Pajar boots (similar here), Desmo handbag}
Now that it finally looks and feels like winter in Chicago it's time to put my trusty old parka and snow boots back to use. The latter may not be exactly a stylish thing to wear, but boy do I love these boots. It's amazing what these babies have been through over the years - from sloshing though deep slushy puddles to shoveling snow underneath the car tires. Not once have they failed to keep my feet dry and toasty. They are a tank of a shoe - impossible to destroy. For all the good they've done for me I can look past them not being particularly pretty.

Simple Delights
{Vanilla oreo cupcake - a treat Mr. C brought me back from a movie night party I wasn't able to attend.}
{Finally a new rug for our bedroom!}
We've been in desperate need of a new rug for our bedroom for at least a couple of years. Our old rug was thin, ruff for your feet, and clashed majorly with the rest of the decor. I'm so excited I came across this rug at Marshalls last week. It's a bit smaller than I'd like it to be, but other than that it's perfection - the color goes well with our blue bedding, the pattern is almost identical to some of the accessories in the room, and most importantly it's soft. My feet have been thanking me every morning for this treat.
{New shades to play with}
I don't change my makeup often. Whenever I find a product that I like I stick with it for years. Bare Minerals is hands down my favorite choice for eye color and foundation products. Over the holidays my mother-in-law treated me to a big set of gorgeous new shades. I've been playing with them ever since.

{A little sprout of hope}
Last week as I was moving some stuff around in our kitchen, I looked sadly at our orchid and told C I was throwing it out. It seemed like the right thing to do since the plant hadn't bloomed for over two years and looked near dead. Luckily I got distracted by something else and left the orchid alone. The next day, just as I was about to put it in the trash, I noticed a little sprout peeking out from under the leaves. A miracle! Did it really sprout over night? I must have seriously offended and freaked it out by threatening to get rid of it. Perhaps it decided to prove to me that it was indeed still alive.
